Crickley Hill Circular

3.5 km /2.3 miles

PARKING: Pay and Display run by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. Location GL4 8JY.

HIGHLIGHTS: Crickley Hill Country Park has many varied walks, and if you don’t want to have to walk uphill for amazing views then this is the walk for you as the car park opens right out on to views of the Severn Valley, Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. I have detailed the circular walk here, but there are many varied walks to follow in the lovely country park. With a toddler, you could even grab a coffee from the delightful cafe ( complete with kids corner!) Then walk a few steps to the plains of the iron age Hill Fort site where children can play in the backdrop off stunning views.

STEP BY STEP:

At the car park make a left and walk towards the hill fort. This part of the path is signposted as the Cotswold Way. Enjoy the magnificent views all around. Keep following the path and signposts for the Cotswold way making a sharp left (following the signpost). The path will then lead you around the edge of an area of woodland known as ‘the Scrubbs’.

At the end of the woodlands, the Cotswold way will turn off right. Here, you LEAVE the Cotswold way and continue on the path forward past the cricket grounds. Past the cricket ground, the path enters another area of woodland which you will enter. Continue to follow the path. When you exit the woodland, you will find yourself on the edge of the escarpment . Bear Left and walk along the path enjoying the views. Keep walking along this path, and you will find yourself back at the car park.

Perfect for all terrain pushchairs.
