STEP BY STEP:

Start at the Amberely Inn. Cross the road, heading towards the green, then walk up the hillside keeping to the left of the stone monument. When you get to the common, head clockwise, passing houses on your left. Keep left sticking left to the roadside walking between the bus stop and the war memorial. Cross the road shortly afterwards, through a gap in some wooden stumps, then continue to follow the path over the cross roads, before seeing the main road across the common.

Cross the road, then turn right.

Keep on the path which follows a stone wall, continuing on as it heads downhill. As the path flattens out, keep continuing straight. Keep walking and you will see the village of Burleigh ahead. Walk to the righthand edge of the village, where two roads meet. Cross the road. Continue along the road ahead (signposted No Through Road) The path turns in to a grassy track with the golf course on your right. Keep on this path until you reach the road in the corner of the common.

Cross the main road again, then turn right, you will see many different paths all heading west. Choose which ever you like as they all come out in the same place. Continue past the large imposing gates of Westfield House. The walls of the house will turn off left, we will continue straight ahead. Reaching Windmill road, cross the road and continue on passing Windmill Lodge on the left. Continue straight forward and you will come to a lane leading to the Old Lodge Hotel, follow the path down the lane.

At the pub, head right, crossing the gold course making your way towards the tree line. Coming to a quite road, cross it and follow the edge of the common until you reach the start point, walking downhill past the monument on the hillside.
