Where to see cherry blossom in the Cotswolds

At Cotswold Little Explorers, we adore spring and adore spring blossoms even more! The Queen of spring blossom is, of course, the cherry blossom tree, with its soft pink and white enchanting floral display. 

It’s a great way to enjoy spring with your family, children can explore parks and gardens, chase butterflies, and enjoy picnics under blooming trees. The scent of blossom is just lovely, and if we are lucky, a sunny afternoon under the cherry blossom makes for an amazong picnic!

Create lasting memories filled with laughter and wonder, as well as taking beautiful family photos to treasure.

There are lots of charming local spots where you can enjoy these beautiful blooms and enjoy the fleeting magic of cherry blossom with your family.



Batsford Arboretum

The number one spot in the Cotswold for blossoms that comes up on polls of best blossoms in the UK time and time again. This arboretum near Moreton-in-Marsh has a diverse collection of cherry blossom varieties. Stroll along the winding paths and marvel at the bursts of pink and white petals. Batsford also has a play park, garden centre, and café making it a great spring day out.



Painswick Rococo Garden

Painswick: Known for its whimsical design and tranquil atmosphere, this historic garden features a delightful array of flowering trees, including cherry blossoms. Take a leisurely walk through the garden to enjoy the sights and scents of spring. With an adventure playground, maze, and café it’s a great place for children and adults alike to enjoy time outdoors.

Snowshill Manor National Trust

This National Trust property and delightful gardens have orchards that come to life in April with abundant pink blossoms bursting in to bloom. Walk and picnic in the orchards to enjoy the lovely fragrant blossoms, and take in the stunning view of the valley.  As well as a cafe, wooden sculptures, and wooden theatre for the kids to play in, it also has a model village to explore as well as fascinating treasures and oddities throughout the historic house.



Westonbirt Arboretum

With over 15,000 trees, including many varieties of cherry blossoms, it’s a paradise for nature lovers during the springtime.

Follow the family spring trail, visit the cafe, playground treetop bridge walk.

Evesham Blossom Trail

Nestled on the edge of the Cotswolds, the vale of Evesham has lots of pink and white blossom trees in bloom from mid- March to mid- May, remenants from days when this used to be the prime fruit producing region of England in years gone by.

Cerney House Gardens

Discover the beauty of cherry blossoms at Cerney House Gardens, where delicate petals adorn the landscape in  display of springtime magic. The picturesque house and surrounding cou teysode is a great place for a family walk. Stroll through the garden paths and immerse yourself in the serene atmosphere as you admire nature’s fleeting spectacle. There is an honesty box tearoom here, with cakes, pastries, and a selection of  hot and cold drinks available.

Those with little ones could combine a trip with an outdoor stay and play session run by @roots.shoots.muddy boots (check out their instagram page for more info, including session times and dates).

Hidcote Manor Gardens

Hidcote Manor is a stunning garden run by the National Trust. See the blossom trees in pink and white, visit the lovely cafe and stripl round the gardens. There is a lovely lawn to sit and picnic on if the weather is warm, and often seasonal trails and events on for children; see website here for more details.

London Road Cherry Trees, Cheltenham

At the junction of Hewlett Road and London Road in Cheltenham, a circle of pink, fluffy, fragrant blossom bloom on a collection of 20+ trees in this regency town.

Enjoy the cherry blossoms and just over the road,  Sandford Park, a great place for picnics, spotting ducklings and other wildlife in Spring, as well as a large play area for the kids and pretty landscaped gardens.
