Sleepy Snowshill is a great choice for families exploring the Cotswolds – It’s good looking, cute and quaint – but without lots of tourists and no where near as busy as somewhere like Bourton-on-the-Water.
There are a few good things to do as a family in the village, some great walks and so close to Broadway – perfect for combing both on a visit to see the best of the Cotswolds.

Where is Snowshill?
Snowshill is a small village in the north Cotswolds in Gloucestershire. Located a few miles from the gorgeous Broadway, pretty Snowshill is best reached by car due to its rural location – no train station here. There are bus services from Broadway and nearby towns of Evesham and Moreton-in-Marsh, but past experience of late or delayed buses has put me off to be honest, as well aren’t that flexible when exploring with the kids.
The Best things to do in Snowshill with Kids
Snowshill Manor House and Gardens

Snowshill Manor House is a great place to visit with the kids – it’s a historic property run by the National Trust. It’s It’s a gorgeous cafe, orchards and gorgeous views over the valley. There isn’t a playground but nice touches have been added to the property to make it child friendly such as some varved wooden animal sculptures, a wooden train to climb on, a wooden theatre hidden in the woods and there is also a model village in the garden which the kids always like to view.
The staff and volunteers are friendly and often give the children challenges to complete in the house ( such as find all the clocks, find all the armour) and they also have a information and activity booklet for the kids to complete. In the school holidays there are often trails and activities on the lawn for the children, too.
The house itself is more interesting to the kids than most of these types of places. This is because it is full of curiosities and rare collections from around the world, including bicycles and penny farthings, old fashioned toys, suits of armour and samurai swords, to name a few. My boys love exploring here – they always find something different hidden away everytime we visit!
Snowshill Lavender Farm and Flower Fields (Cotswold Lavender)

Cotswold Lavender, previously known as Snowshill Lavender Farm, is a Lavender Field that is open to the public for pictures, picnics, shopping and to relax and have a drink taking in the gorgeous flowers and views of the Cotswold Hills.
The beechwood trail is a kids nature play trail with logs, stepping stones, a wooden tipi and other nature themed play things to jump and climb in on this walk through beautiful wooded area and meadows around the flower farm. There are also wildflower fields here – apparently it is one of the most insragramabke places in the Cotswolds! If you can get your kids to both look at the camera at the same time, you will get some lovely pictures here!
We love to take our lunch and then buy some Lavender cookies and ice cream from the cafe to go with it. Opens seasonally – Visitors welcomed from June 2025.
Snowshill Arms Pub

Snowshill Arms is a traditional country pub in the heart of the tiny village centre, right across from the church. Real ale, food and drinks, and a smallmplayarea at the abvknfro the kids, it’s a great place to stop after a walk in Snowshill or in the nearby woods. Perfect place to sit in the garden on a sunny day while the kids whizz down the slide!
Littleworth Woods

Littleworth woods are just outside of the back of the village of Snowshiil – from the church, head on an unnamed road downhill past the cottages and a place named Oat Hill Coach House on google maps. There is a sign on the right for Littleworth woods – head down hill and across feilds to enter a pretty woodland, full of bluebells in spring, streams and lovely woodlands paths to explore.
Snowshill – Laverton Walk

One of our top walks in the Cotswolds – a real favourite. Snowshill has a gorgeous location perched right on the top of a scenic hill and valley and this walk showcases the lovely expansive views, takes younthrough pretty woodlands with streams to play in for the kids, and you get to start and finish in stunning Snowshill Village. We’ve done this walk with our kids loads of times from 3 years upwards, it is about 3.5 miles long.
Snowshill in the Movies

If you walk up the hill behind St Barnabus Church, you will see the scene from the Bridget Jones films where she visits here parents house on boxing day for the damous Turkey Curry Buffet! – I always remember thinking what a charming place it looked in the films and was happy to discover it was practically on our doorstep.
